DANIEL SIMONSEN is Norwegian/Chilean stand-up and writer who made his US late-night debut on Late Night with Seth Meyers. He has since appeared on CC Stand-Up Featuring, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and recurred on Comedy Central’s This Week at the Comedy Cellar. Daniel was named New York’s Funniest at the 2022 New York Comedy Festival. He regularly performs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and won UK’s So You Think You’re Funny and Best Newcomer awards. Over the summer, Daniel filmed a guest role on Stavros Halkias’s upcoming feature. He recurred on Vic and Bob’s BBC sitcom alongside Matt Berry, House of Fools and ITV’s Timewasters. His appearance on Russell Howard’s Good News hit 2.4 millions views on YouTube. He created and wrote his own digital series for ALL4 called, Daniel that he starred in alongside Natasia Demetriou and Brett Goldstein. He is a Comedy Cellar regular and tours internationally. Known to you as the students who were always the loud kids in the back of the classroom, the Unteachables are a group of stand-up comedians who just happened to fall backwards into educating America’s youth. Their material extends far beyond just the chaos that exists in their classroom. They offer authentic comedy to everyone, regardless of if they've worked in education, need a break from reality, or just love to laugh. The Unteachables have been featured on NBC, The Breakfast Club, The New York Post, and the Roast Battle League.

Stephen Taylor

Originally a Louisiana native, Stephen moved to Kansas City to escape his traditional southern roots. Combining his unique perspective with some interesting stories and some sweet southern charm, Stephen headlines and features at your favorite clubs, bars, and colleges across the country, as well as his own classroom. He has been featured on The Breakfast Club, The New York Post, and at San Francisco Sketchfest. He is also the co-founder of the Fountain City Comedy Festival and the Barrel of the Bottoms studio in Kansas City.

Lou Pharis

Described by many as buff, handsome, and their second-best friend, Lou uses his high energy and outrageous experiences in the classroom to keep crowds laughing. After failing to make the NFL and win American Ninja Warrior, Lou turned his talents to the public education system. His viral videos on teaching and marriage have amassed over 75 million views on social media. Lou has been featured across the US and UK, has been seen on NBC, and was a finalist for the Comedy Works New Faces Contest.

Joe Mckenna

Joe McKenna is a comedian from Boston, Massachusetts. One of the fastest rising comics in Denver, Joe utilizes his experience as a middle school teacher and traveler to recount his most bizarre undergoings with his students, his time spent abroad, and the ever changing social expectations of the youth. Joe has been seen at comedy clubs across the US, and has worked with household comedians such as Mark Normand, Shane Gillis, and Jeff Ross.

Will Burkart is a Los Angeles based stand up comedian and actor. After growing up in the SF Bay Area, he moved out to LA and quickly established himself as one of the hardest working young comics on the scene. Given the massive popularity of his stand up clips on social media, Will's fan base has skyrocketed, amassing over 1 million
followers and more than 300 million views.

In 2023, Will embarked on a 45 city nationwide tour selling out venues across the
country. As the tour continues, Will headlined in the Netflix is a Joke festival, and
recently shot his debut comedy special.

Dumpster Fire Date Live is an interactive comedy dating show where stand-up comedians help “interpret” the answers of real singles live on stage. Think live dating meets stand-up comedy, crowd interaction, and total chaos. Audience members watch contestants answer dating questions, comedians roast and react in real time, and the crowd helps decide who survives the ultimate dumpster fire date.

Open Mic Night - this is where it begins.

Wiseguys Open Mic is a weekly showcase of Utah's best up-and-coming performers. Each show is a hilarious mix of professionals working on new material, amateur comedians working on their chops, and first-timers being thrown in the mix.

Wiseguys Open Mic is held every Wednesday at Wiseguys.

How do I sign up?

Please email wiseguysopenmic@gmail.com and request a spot on the next open mic. You may submit one email request for yourself only up to one week before the next scheduled open mic. You may not request a spot several weeks in advance of the night you'd like to perform. Anyone interested in performing on Open Mic night must send in an email request; there are no longer sign-ups the night of the show. If you are selected to do a spot, we will respond to your email. It is up to you to check your email.

If you are a comic visiting from out of town, please email us and we will try to make room for you. All performers must be aged 21 or older.

How will I know if I'm on the show?

We will respond via email to everyone who will be on the open mic no later than 7pm the Tuesday before open mic. If you are selected, feel free to invite friends and family to come watch and support your performance. Admission is $5 for audience members and free for performers. It is your responsibility to check your email to see if you've been selected.

What if I'm not chosen to be on the show?

We do our best to give everyone an opportunity to perform but we can't always squeeze everyone on to the show because of high demand. If you are not selected to perform, keep sending in email requests. Be persistent and patient (and nice) and we will make sure you have an opportunity to take the stage. If you’re not selected, please come to the show and support anyway. Your support of the other open mic performers is noticed and appreciated and won’t hurt your chances to be selected for a future open mic.

Stand-by List: If any spots become available at 6pm on Open Mic night, then a stand-by list will be made available for performers who aren't already scheduled for that evening. There are no guarantees that a stand-by list will be available each week and will be determined at 6pm if there is any available room to add performers on to the show.

*A certain number of open mic slots are made available to touring professional comedians. If you are wondering whether or not you’re a touring professional, you’re probably not a touring professional. (Keep working hard and you’ll get there though)

I'm on the list, now what?

You must check in at the front desk no later than 7pm otherwise your spot will be forfeited and given to someone waiting on the standby list. No-shows are less likely to be given future performance opportunities at open mic night.

All scheduled performers get 3 minutes on stage. Please stick to your time. Show order is random and determined by that evening's emcee. Be sure to watch the countdown clock! Respect the time, audience, and other comedians.

Please stay out of the staff's way as they are very busy. Stay clear of the aisles. Also, you should order from a server and tip them. It's the right thing to do and good karma.

Open Mic is used as a starting ground for many comics, as well as a place to practice new material for veteran comedians. Some jokes may kill, others may bomb, but it's always a good time. Be sure to support those appearing on stage; it's not as easy as you think! Sit down and watch the show from an empty seat in the showroom. You never know...you might learn something!

Comedian Carlos Mencia is best known for his outspoken style of comedy, which is often political and involves issues of race, culture, criminal justice and social class. He is best known as the star and writer of Comedy Central's “Mind of Mencia” which ran for five seasons on Comedy Central.

Mencia went on to star opposite Ben Stiller and Michelle Monaghan in the Farrelly Brothers’ hit feature film “The Heartbreak Kid” and in the family comedy “Our Family Wedding” alongside America Ferrara and Forrest Whitaker.

Most recently, Mencia has gone back to his comedic roots, performing at a number of comedy venues – allowing him to share his newest material with a more intimate audience. His current tour, called the “C 4 Urself Tour,” has been making stops all around the country, performing to eager audiences. He is also working on a brand new comedy special, to be released later this year.

Jourdain Fisher is a New York based comedian, actor, writer and content creator, who was born and raised in North Carolina. He started doing standup comedy at the age of 17 to avoid working for his family's funeral home. Jourdain has been a part of various festivals including, The New York Comedy Festival (New Yorks Funniest), Laughing Skull Festival, and Laugh Your Asheville Off. Jourdain was also a back-to-back winner of The Ultimate Comic Challenge, and a finalist in The Carolina's Funniest Competition as well as a finalist at the NBC Stand Up Showcase. Jourdain was previously a writer and actor on BET's sketch comedy show, 50 Central and a writer on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Frankie Quiñones is a stand-up comedian, actor, and creator, known for his character work. Frankie starred in HULU's critically claimed, THIS FOOL, for which he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the Independent Spirit Awards. Frankie also recently wrapped a pilot for his own sketch show at Hulu entitled GET FRANKIE. Frankie’s filmed his first hour special this year for Hulu with Ali Wong as his director and EP which debuted in 2025. Frankie is currently in production on a feature with his long time collaborators, THE DRESS UP GANG, called THE FIDDLE LEAF. Frankie is an EP and star, Mar Vista is financing. Frankie also recurs on FX's WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS and animated series FIRED ON MARS and VICTOR & VALENTINO, both for HBO MAX. Winston Hodges is from DC by way of Richmond, VA. He’s toured all over the east coast showcasing his southern charm and edgy wit. He has been featured on Don't Tell Comedy's Secret Sets, and was a Top 6 finalist on Kevin Hart's 'Funny AF' for Netflix--starting with thousands of applicants and 44 original competitors. His videos have been viewed over a combined 30 million times online.

Monét X Change brings her “High Heels, Bad Knees” tour to the stage — abrand-new hour of unhinged, fast, and filthy stand up comedy about adulting and coming to terms with the fact that most of her joints are serviceable, albeit barely functional. Justin Silva was born and raised in New Haven, CT. He started doing comedy at the age of 21. Prior to comedy, he was an electrician full-time, and a server at chili’s part-time. The workforce was not working out for him. After his first comedy show, he learned it was where he belonged. Justin fell in love with being on the stage and making people laugh. A year and a half later, he quit his jobs to pursue his dream. Justin got on stage as much as he could. Attending open mics. Dave Smith is a comedian, political commentator, radio and tv personality. Dave is a regular guest on The Joe Rogan Experience, Tim Pool, Kennedy, and The Greg Gutfeld show. In 2017 Dave’s debut comedy special ‘Libertas’ was released and spent over three weeks at #1 on the ITunes comedy chart. Dave is the host of ‘Part of the Problem’ a libertarian podcast about current events and the evils of government and the corporate media as well as his comedy podcast Legion of Skanks.

Beth Stelling is a comedian, writer and actress based in Los Angeles. Her latest release “The Landlord Special” on YouTube comes highly recommended by Vulture, The New York Times and Billboard. Beth’s most recent hourlong special “If You Didn’t Want Me Then” topped every Best of 2023 list when it premiered on Netflix along with her beloved 2017 half-hour special in the first season of “The Standups.”Her critically-acclaimed 2015 Comedy Central Half Hour “Boner Appétit to You” now lives on YouTube.  Conan O'Brien produced Beth’s very first hour special for HBO Max called “Girl Daddy” which The New York Times named “The Best Debut Special of the year,” adding, “It's a virtuosic performance, conversational while dense with jokes."Beth has been a writer for the following television series: Rick and Morty, Strange Planet, The Last O.G., I Love You America with Sarah Silverman, Another Period and Crashing on HBO. Jessie 'Jetski' Johnson is a music school drop-out and trumpet player turned stand-up comedian from Phoenix, now blossoming in Los Angeles. She is a paid regular at the World Famous Comedy Store and frequently performs at the Comedy Mothership in Austin. She is a cast member on two of the most popular comedy podcasts today: the Kill Tony Podcast andthe Bad Friends Podcast with Andrew Santino and Bobby Lee. Mohanad Elshieky is a New York based, Libyan born comedian who made his national TV debut on Conan, has been featured on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Don’t Tell Comedy, Comedy Central, and has toured with Pop Up Magazine. Mohanad is currently a regular at the Comedy Cellar in NYC. He is a writer/consultant for the hit podcast WAIT WAIT DON’T TELL ME and previously wrote for LOVETT OR LEAVE IT. Punkie Johnson is a comedian and writer from New Orleans, Louisiana who joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2020. Maddy Kelly is a Canadian born stand-up comedian, writer, actor, and producer based in New York City.
